Free product manager level check

A 10-minute adaptive interview that evaluates what you have actually done, not what you know. No account required. You get a result at the end, mapped to seven PM levels across 16 competency dimensions, stating which level your evidence actually supports today.

Free. No account required. Takes 10 to 20 minutes.

What you get at the end

Your current demonstrated level

The Level Check maps your answers to the same 7-level arc from PM through CPO and states which scope your evidence actually supports, not which title you hold.

Gaps between your title and your evidence

Many experienced PMs are operating above their title. Some are operating below the level they are targeting. The Level Check surfaces both, because either gap affects the next step differently.

The specific dimensions where evidence is thin

A single overall rating is not useful for development. You get a signal across all 16 competency dimensions so you know exactly where to focus, not a number to debate at your next review.

How it works

  1. A few questions to establish context

Current role, scope, and where you want to go. Not a qualification screen: context so your answers are evaluated against the right level expectations.

  2. An adaptive interview about your real decisions

Not hypotheticals. Real examples from your own experience, probed with follow-up questions the way a rigorous panel would probe them. Smooth answers get a second question.

  3. A result that states the level your evidence supports

Mapped to the same 16 competency dimensions used at every level from PM through CPO. What is already demonstrated, what is not yet demonstrated, and what evidence would close the gap.

What makes it different from a quiz

Most PM level assessments are either personality-based (how you tend to think) or knowledge-based (do you know what a PRD is). Neither evaluates what a hiring panel actually evaluates: what you did, under what constraints, with what reasoning, and what happened. The Level Check is built around behavioral evidence, the same standard a rigorous panel applies, and it follows up on your answers the same way a sharp interviewer would.

See the full methodology for how evidence is evaluated, and /trust for what the result can and cannot conclude.

Common questions

Is the PM Level Check actually free?
Yes. No credit card, no account required. You start, answer questions, and get a result. The only thing gated behind a sign-up is saving your report so you can return to it.
How long does it take?
Most people finish in 10 to 20 minutes. The interview is adaptive, so the length depends on how detailed your answers are and how many follow-up questions the conversation generates.
Is this a quiz with right and wrong answers?
No. It is a structured interview about your real experience. There are no trick questions and no right answers. The evidence you share from your own decisions is what gets evaluated, not how you answer a hypothetical.
What PM level will it tell me I am?
The Level Check maps to seven levels: PM, Senior PM, Principal PM, Director of Product, Senior Director, VP of Product, and CPO. It will tell you which level your evidence actually supports today, which may be different from the level you are targeting or the title you currently hold.
How is this different from a personality test or a skills quiz?
Personality tests describe how you tend to think. Skills quizzes test knowledge. The Level Check evaluates what you have actually done, specifically the decisions you made, the tradeoffs you navigated, and the outcomes you can tie to them. That is what a rigorous hiring panel evaluates when they decide whether to hire at senior or principal.
