At the PM level, learning velocity means being able to recognize when an assumption was wrong and change course quickly, before the cost of the mistake compounds. The evidence is specific: an assumption that was wrong, how you found out, and what you did.

- Identified an incorrect assumption before or shortly after shipping and corrected course
- Changed a product direction based on new evidence without needing a manager's direction
- Shared a post-mortem or learning with the team after a feature that did not perform as expected
A real interview probe at this level
“Tell me about a time you were wrong about a product assumption. How did you find out, and what did you do?”
A well-calibrated answer to this probe names a real decision, a real tradeoff, and a real outcome. Generic process descriptions do not hold up to follow-up.
