Ethics & Responsibilityat the Senior Director of Product level

A Senior Director is accountable for responsible product development across a portfolio. The evidence requires showing that portfolio-level product responsibility decisions were made with executive visibility and that the organization had a genuine framework for navigating ethical tradeoffs.

What a promotion committee or hiring panel would need to see demonstrated, not just claimed, for Ethics & Responsibility at the Senior Director level.

  • Set the responsible product development standards for a multi-product portfolio
  • Made a portfolio-level decision to stop or constrain a product based on ethical or social responsibility concerns
  • Communicated a product responsibility position to executive leadership or external stakeholders

Portfolio scope and executive partnership: setting strategy across multiple product areas, influencing VP-level business decisions.

“What was the most consequential responsible product decision you made at the portfolio level?”

A well-calibrated answer to this probe names a real decision, a real tradeoff, and a real outcome. Generic process descriptions do not hold up to follow-up.
